| Recipes
online are difficult to sort through and find a decent recipe.
The task was to design a transaction website with a new interaction
that would allow users to easily find an sift through quality
recipes. In order to fully understand the users' needs, we
started by interviewing users about how they looked up recipes,
for what occasions, and what they found helpful and not. We
then performed a competitive analysis to see what other recipe
sites were doing. This data gave us a starting point from
which to design a new interaction.
We took the data and decided
that a "panel of experts" metaphor could be helpful
to recipe seekers. The idea was that you could have a conversation
with one of the experts to narrow down your recipe choices.
So if you were interested in an Asian dish, you could ask
a question to the Asian expert and he or she would help you
find the perfect recipe. It turned out that the panel was
unnecessary. So we decided that all we needed was one expert
to answer questions. This not only simplified the interface
but allowed users greater flexibility in asking their questions.

get to our conclusions and final design. |
