Usability Analysis: Inter-American Development Bank

Tasked with the redesign of the Inter-American Development Bank's About Us section, by conducting analysis of their existing site based on a user-centered design approach allowed us to make the final product a much more cognitive and stylish design. Below are a few examples of the before and after pictures:

About the IDB Home | 2nd Level Layout | Member Countries | Main Content | NN 4.7 Design

Old About the IDB Home
Revamped About the IDB Home

Saturated with a wealth of information about the bank, the IDB's About the IDB section unfortunately lacked the proper organization and structure to get its users to their desired information.

Boasting a semantically tight information architecture as well as a stunning graphic layout, Jushi's revamped About the IDB home page provided an especially cognitive and stylish means for the IDB's users to get to the information they wanted- fast.

Revamped 2nd Level Layout

IDB's 2nd level pages suffered from some common web usability problems- they failed to let users know where they were in relation to the site's semantic structure, where they had been, and finally where they could go. Additionally, the second level papges needed an updated look.

Utilizing more a more vivrant color scheme and exciting graphics, JuShi was able to inject style into the layouts of the 2nd level pages. Clear left hand navigation and page titles coupled with concise yet effective previews of the 3rd level pages solved the previous usability problems.

Old Member Countries
Revamped Memeber Countries

The web was intended to be an infinite connection of information. IDB's Member Countries page failed to take users to the next step in seeking more about each country and its representatives. The plain textual layout of the countries did not properly group nations by their regional location.

The clean, user-centered Jushi design featuring global navigation to the entire IDB site, primary navigation to sift through the About the IDB section, secondary navigation, and appopriate country grouping solved the usability problems. Additionally, by incorporating contact information and links to each nation's IDB site the redsigned page helpfully guided users to the next step.

Realizing how people read text on the web we made sure to maximize the power of each word. Simple callouts were employed to give the always impatient web surfer the key points quickly and efficiently. We reduced scrolling by breaking lengthy documents into appropriate sections.

Saturated with a wealth of information about the bank, the IDB's About the IDB section unfortunately lacked the proper organization and structure to get its users to their desired information.

In order to accomodate users with different browsers that did not support the functionality of the switching layers design, we designed a separate page with the same content but not as dynamic.
