My task here was to redesign
a home stereo receiver interface that allowed users to switch
modes, set and change radio stations, as well as adjust the
equalizer. I started with just a paper prototype design that
evolved to a Visual Basic implemntation. The Visual Basic
implementation was iterated on 3 times. Between each iteration,
I asked people at laundromats and coffee shops to be my users
as they represented a diverse user population. Each user test
showed me where there were problems and good aspects of the
interface which I wrote up into Usability Aspect Reports.
This iterative process resulted in an easier to use and more
efficient user interface. The user tests generated user interface
interactions that would not have come up had I not done the
tests.
